Confirmation is a one-year program of instruction for students in eighth grade. Students meet weekly throughout their confirmation year to study the Bible, Luther's "Shorter Catechism", and the history and tradition of the church. They also have various responsibilities in the congregation and community that they are assigned to fulfill. Confirmation occurs on Pentecost Sunday, the day in the Church Year that marks the birthday of the church.
