Wayne Dietterick began serving as director of
music at Emanuel in April 2006. His previous organist/choir director
positions in New Jersey include: nine years at Advent Lutheran Church,
Warren; fifteen years at
St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Summit;
five years at Faith Lutheran Church, Murray Hill; and, four years at St.
John's Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg (Espy), PA.
He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music
Education cum laude from Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, PA, with
an emphasis in choral directing and organ performance, studying with
Cyril Stretansky and James Boeringer. Additionally, he studied organ
privately with the late Dr. Leonard Raver of the Julliard School.
Wayne also previously served as assistant
conductor of the Summit, New Jersey Chorale. As a composer, his
compositions and arrangements have been performed and recorded by the
Susquehanna University Choir, as well as performed by the
Summit
Chorale, the Music Group of Philadelphia, various soloists, church and
high school choirs. Most recently, he assisted in developing the
Caritas
Chamber Chorale
and is both a member and composer-in-residence.
